STOP PRESS - MAJOR NEWS - ROADHOUSE PLAY GLASTONBU

I'm pleased to announce our appearance at this years Glastonbury Festival, the largest festival in Europe.....

Roadhouse will be making their biggest ever festival appearance on The Bourbon Street stage (run by the excellent Andy Fielding and Roadhouse Promotions) at 23.30 to 0045.

We are the last Band to be booked for 'Glasto 2010', so details will probably not make the Main Website. However the appearance will be publicised on all major industry websites includng that of the Promoter and of Blues Matters.

We are close to reaching agreement for major appearances in Germany in November with our freinds The Brew...

Very exciting times ahead..

LATEST NEWS

First the good news:

- We've just completed a very succesful tour of Holland and Belgium

- GLASTONBURY have been in touch with us and though me may just miss out on this years festival it looks like we will be on the Blues Stage in June 2011

- The new songs are progressing well and we should be releasing our best ever CD in October (Dark Angel)

Just one diaaapointment - we have had to cancel only our 3rd gig in 19 years. Roger Hunt sustained a serious back injury falling on stage at this years Mitcham carnival (great gig though).
So with deep regret we have had to cancel the Blakeney Harbour Room show on Friday the 18th June - We hope that one day they will forgive us and have us back

SUCCESS AT SKEGNESS 2010

Thanks for all the great support that facilitated our massive success, at this years major festival.

On Saturday afternoon we had our biggest ever crowd on the JAKS stage. Our very well received set was followed by arguably the best ever Skgness Jam session that I've ever run. The venue was packed to the rafters!!!... well played all our great friends who joined in this feast of live music.

Onto the Centre Stage on Sunday night. Up against stiff competition with the Deborah Bonham Band on the Reds stage, we were delighted to have a packed house.

This was one of our finest ever big stage appearance. It was great to play to thousands of real live music lovers.

A massive thanks to Trevor Ridgely, who captured the overall feel of the great afternoon via camcorder, onto Youtube.

Paste the following URL's into your browser to see Tellin Lies, Preacher Man and one our new numbers Swamp Girl (to be released on the forthcoming CD, Rainmaker):

YOUTUBE & GREAT PICTURES OF COLNE

Dear All,

We had a great gig on the Big Stage at Colne this year. YOUTUBE footage is now available (some footage is great, but the sound is mostly unbalanced, as many of the songs are filmed from Dannys side of the stage). The new song Swamp Girl is filmed from next to the mixing desk, so it has a good balance&&..Thanks to Darren Wisdom

There are also great photographs on Alan Whites Early Blues site. Why not check them out; Alan is a great photographer and also read the extensive Roadhouse interview and feature on that site&& (A big thanks to Alan):

This CD is scheduled to be released on Blues Matters records on approx the 20th June. It will also be available directly from the Band and this site

We have invested more time, care, blood sweat, pain and tears in this CD than any of our 9 other CD's.

We feature Mandie's acclaimed blues rendition of 'House of the Rising Sun', 3 girl backing vocals and by mass request, a re-recording of our classic 'Preacher Man' (As the current version transcends all previous incarnations)

We believe that this will be the best ever Roadhouse CD and with some good plugging scheduled, wonder where it will take us...

Tracklisting:
1. Sea of Souls
2. Lights On The Water
3. The Answer
4. House Of The Rising Sun
5. Voodoo Dance
6. The Lying Game
7. Dark River
8. Tumbling Dwon
9. The Dark Of The Sun
10. Preacher Man

Reserve your first run copies now to avoid dissapointment and check out our gig guide for launch gigs near you...

Your support is what keeps us going....Keep on rocking!

SUCCESS AT SKEGNESS

Our 3 performances and the jam we ran at the major Skegness festival, were a great success.

Audience reaction, CD sales and level of performance was the best yet....

Using all 3 girls on our mainstage appearance was a visual and vocal masterstroke. Check out this camcordered Utube film of our new song Voodoo Dance (thanks to someone in the 5th-7th row, on Danny's side of the stage for filming and posting)

Check it out:

THE ROAD AHEAD AS AT THE 15TH SEPTEMBER

It was a fantastic summer Festival season for Roadhouse with especially great gigs and responses at the major Merton Abbey and Colne (National R&B). In the space of 5 days over 5,000 people saw Roadhouse play.

On the line up front, its goodbye to our ace Candian guitar player, Drew Barron as a full time Roadhouse member.
Due to a change in his personal circumstances Drew is dropping to the head of our dep list and will still be appearing with us. Thanks for a great couple of years Drew

Coming in for Drew is that superb player, Danny Gwiliym.
Danny has done some great gigs with us recently and used to play for those major Bands Shogun and Chinatown in the 80's/90's. Playing gigs like the NEC and Hammersmith Appollo on a regular basis.
Danny will keep the tradition of great guitar players in Roadhouse alive and well.

Our guitar dep list including Drew, Jules Fothergill and the great Tim O'Sullivan we have masses of fretboard firepower to call upon.

The future plans include:
- The major Skegness festival in January
- Recording and releasing a new CD in 2008 (I've a load of great new songs)
- More gigs and Festivals at home and abroad

Check out roadhouse on Youtube - its anold gig featuring only one girl singer and a great Dep form Tim.O but worth a look

THE ROAD AHEAD AS AT THE 25/3/07

Broken Land is our 9th CD, our 3rd release on the Blues Matters lable. With thanks to BM and ace record plugger Golly Gallagher, Broken Land has achieved air play on over 60 radio stations in over 25 Countries. It also has over 30 top reviews and all but one luke warm Belgian effort, are very, very positive. It is our fastest selling CD.

PERSONNEL:
Mandie.G and Suzie.D are currently carrying the mantle of being a regular Roadhouse ladies and are joined in the squad by the awesome vocals of Billi Shaw (of our Blues Highway CD fame).

NEW MATERIAL:
In November I will be sitting down initially with Drew to begin the writing process for a potential 10th CD. This is all heavily depndant on my struggle against progressive illness - but we have a very good plan and potentially another year of even greater success to come.

Dear Roadhouse Friends,
After the new lineup received mass acclaim for it's appearances at the major Blues & Rock Festival at Skegness, we went on short tour of Belgium and Holland.

Major festival appearances and increased radio exposure lie ahead. We'd like to thank all our friends and fans for their continued support.

During this period we have recorded our latest CD, to be released on Blues Matters records around about the 20th March, Broken Land.

IT'S ALL HAPPENING

Dear Friend of Roadhouse,
The final arrangements have been made for our monster Skegness festival appearances.
We will be on the JAKS stage at 12.00 on Sat the 28th, playing a preview set of our new CD to be released on Blues Matters records in late March, Borken Land. We will then be running the legendary Skeggy JAM SESSION through to 16.00 (don't forget to bring your instruments).

We will the be appearing on Sunday 29th on the giant Centre stage at around 14.45, playing some of our best known songs and a couple of newies....

The following week we will be in the studio recording the new CD. Artwork is well underway by legendary cover artist designer Vaughan Oliver (Pixies, Cocteau Twins, Lush, etc, etc) and it looks stunning
New tracks include set staples, Sacrifice, Broken Land and the Last Train Home,
plus many others

The week after we depart to Europe for gigs in both Holland and Belgium

In terms of personnel I'm pleased to officially announce that Roadhouse legend Mandie.G has re-joined the Band. Mandie has sung on 3 pervious Roadhouse CD's and in total has sung for the band for over 9 of it's 15 years existence. Singing in tandem with Fiona McElroy, the Band now has arguably and potentially it's strongest ever vocal combination.

As most Roadhouse regulars know Anne Campbell has left the band to study for a new career. Anne performed in Roadhouse and helped Manage the band for nearly 7 years. She has sung on more Roadhouse CD's than any other female vocalist and provided the vocal foundation for our last few CD's. Over the last 2-3 years her industry and talents have driven the band forward and kept it going while I have been dealing with serious health issues. Anne is still helping the Band and we wish her well with her new career. A Roadhouse legend, gone but not forgotten..

A BRIGHT FUTURE

Dear Roadhouse Friend,
A tremendously successful summer season, which featured our appearances on two Paul Jones show's ( BBC Radio 2) and myriad major festivals in both the UK and Europe.
We have just said au revoir to Jules and Lorna as they move onto fronting their own Band , Funkydory and wish them every success. They will be appearing with us from time to time, as they head up our dep list.
The new line up featuring Candian maestro Drew Barron on the guitar and Fiona McElroy on vocals has already kicked into action and the new show has had tremendous feedback.
Looking Forward (Highlights):
- A busy gig diary, including a Blues Matters special with Innes Sibun (ex Robert Plant) and Sean Webster at Sutton FC's Boom Boom club on the 4th December
- Our very succesful jam session at the Woodman in Wimbledon Park moves from once a fortnight to taking place on nearly every Thursday.
- We have been confirmed for our appearance at the major Skegness festival (last weekend of January) where we will run the Jam and a main stage spot, performing to several thousand people
- In Feb we return to Belgium for a short tour and then go into the studio to record our 8th CD, 'Broken Land' (scheduled for release on Blues Matters records in March 2006)
Come on down and catch the new line up and show.
Live music needs your support,
Gary

MAJOR CHANGES - THE SHOW GOES ON

Dear Roadhouse Friend,

It is with great sadness that I announce that at the end of September both Jules Fothergill and Lorna Reilly will be leaving Roadhouse.

The good news is that they will still remain members of the Roadhouse family and will be making numerous dep appearances, so you haven’t seen or heard the last of them yet.

Jules will be replaced by Canadian guitar giant, Drew Barron (who already has over 20 Roadhouse appearances under his belt) and Lorna by the superb Irish Chanteuse Fiona McElroy, who has already made more initial impact that any other Roadhouse female vocalist….. With a new CD in the pipeline and a host of major festival appearances in the diary the future remains bright, though tinged with the sadness of the end of an era……..

So to commemorate get out to a gig now, before the end of September and see the line up that has been to date, in my view, Roadhouse’s finest……

My personal tributes:

Jules – I first saw him when he came to my Wimbledon/Woodman jam. Recognising a major talent, I morphed him into the Band. I expected him to say for around 2 years, then leave, to either join an major act or to do his own thing. The fact he has lasted for 4 years before leaving to do his own thing is a major bonus.

His playing has been a revelation and it is his talent and artistic contribution that has helped Roadhouse to a host of achievements and their prominence on the circuit to date. I will miss him as a friend, fellow/companion guitar player (I’d like to thank him for working with/tolerating my raw/emotional, rather than technical guitar style) and key member of the team. He leaves with our blessing and will go into Roadhouse legend. Finest ever Roadhouse musician Jules or Australian /sax giant Andy Thompson – press your red button)

Lorna – This marks the end of her second and far more successful spell with the Band. In the end she will have performed for a total of 7 years with Roadhouse, appearing on 3 albums. This spell has seen her develop into major solo artist in her own right. Probably the greatest ever Roadhouse vocalist so far, Fiona will be looking to take that crown, can she??.

Jules on article on the forthcoming departure is lifted from his Website www.slidejules.com:

“It is with a little sadness that I am relaying the decision made by both myself and Lorna that we are to part with Roadhouse, with effect from the end of September. The main reason for this is down to Funkydory, which in 6 months has developed from a fun little diversion at the odd jam here and there, into a band we all feel utterly devoted to and enthused by. It's now more than 4 years since my first gig with Roadhouse - 19th April 2001, at The Hallsville Tavern over in East London, a gig which (if memory serves) was attended by an audience of perhaps 2? (3 if you include the barmaid?!?) - either way the lack of audience was a useful thing as any cock ups I made were totally covered/ignored! I don't really recall when specifically I actually became a member of the band - what started as being the odd dep here and there, covering for the good Dr Noel Brown, seemed to metamorphose into doing all the gigs in the diary before I knew it! Over the last 4 years however there have been many highlights... the Castlebar Blues Festival in 2002, each Skegness appearance, each Colne appearance, our infamous weekends away, the list goes on!

As of the end of September, I will have done exactly 300 gigs in total with Roadhouse, recorded 3 albums, seen several members come and go, seen record deals ruminated, signed, delivered, illnesses overcome (and prevail!), but for each gig the constant has been Gary's perseverance and determination, for which I have great respect. So, to Gary, Roger, Bill and Anne, thank you for a hugely fun and fulfilling four years, good luck, and here's to the future! Both Lorna and I will continue to dep and make the odd appearance here and there, so to all you Roadhouse die hard fans out there, you've not seen the last of us yet!”

Live music still lives, develops and changes, but one thing remains it needs your support. Roadhouse is 14 years old this June.
